Purpose

Hexaganos is a tabletop hexagon tile game where you match colors on the tiles and score points wherever the colors match. The object of the game is to match colors on the tiles and score the most points over your opponents. For instance, red pairs with red and blue pairs with blue. Then, tally up the points on the sides that have been paired up. Your score is counted by adding both the number on the new tile and the number on the tile being matched to. Bonus tiles add an exciting twist to the game. Whoever has the most points at the end wins! Recommended for ages 5 to 125 and 2 to 6 players, Hexaganos is ready to hit the market!

Rules of the Game

Ages 5 – 125
From 2-6 players
How to play:
The object of the game is to match colors on the tiles and score the most points.
For instance, red pairs with red and blue pairs with blue.
Then, tally up the points on the side(s) that have been paired up.
Whoever has the most points at the end wins!

Set-up:
Put all the Hex-Tiles into a bag or container or turn them all face down on the table.Make sure no one can see what the tiles are.
Each player selects 6 tiles randomly.
Place the Hex-Tiles into your Hex-Holder. Make sure no one else can see them.
Select someone to be the Score Keeper. They will write down the points of everyone as the game progresses.
Finally, to start the game, take one more random Hex-Tile from the container and place it down in the middle of the table.
Tip: You may want to play on a tablecloth that can be moved if the tiles get too close to the edge of the table.

During play:
Whoever the first player is will place down one of their tiles on the board.
Try and play tiles that give you the most points! (Points are explained in “How to keep score.”)
When placing a tile, make sure it matches every color bordering it. The more colors bordering a spot, the harder it is to play, but the better the points.
After the tile is placed, take one from the Draw Pile. Make sure you have 6 tiles, no more, no less.
The Score Keeper adds up the points.
Play continues clockwise (To the left).

At the end:
Once the Draw Pile is gone, continue playing until everyone’s hand is depleted, or the 1st person uses up all of their tiles. This must be agreed on before the game starts.
Then, the game is over!
Whoever has the most points wins!
Any player that matches all 6 sides on one tile immediately wins. No Wildcard Tiles. This is an Hexágonos. Shout it out and enjoy the win.
Any player that matches all 6 sides on one tile immediately wins. No Wildcard Tiles.

How to keep score:
When playing this game, it’s important to keep score. So, that’s why this section is here!
It doesn’t matter if you keep score by using tally marks or by adding the previous scores together, whatever works for you!
Score is counted by adding BOTH the number on the new tile and the number on the tile being matched to.
Tip: The number of dots on a space is what a ‘number’ is.

For example, matching the 2 orange sections will give you 10 points. Matching the purple & yellow (on the right) gives you 15 points.
Special Tiles

Wild Tile – The Rainbow Space can be used on any color. In this example the wildcard sections acts as a GREEN section. If not for the wildcard, the greens would be a “dead” zone
Play Two – Play this tile first. Then play a second tile, from your hand. Add all points and draw 2 tiles from the Draw Pile, instead of one.
Reverse Play – The direction of play reverses (No effect with only 2 players)
Double Points – The player doubles his score for this turn
Lose Turn – The next player loses their turn. If agreed upon at the start of the game, a player of your choice will lose their next turn (Score keeper should write “Zero” on score sheet for next turn)
Steal Points – This tile can be played after another player plays their tile, regardless of whose turn it is. You will get all their points, and they will get none. It is played on the board, and you get the points from this tile as well. This counts as your turn and play proceeds in the same direction with the next player. If 2 players try to use the steal points on the same play, The 1st player to use it gets to play it
Alternative Games:
Short Game #1 – Each player gets 10 turns.
Short Game #2 – Game continues until a player scores 300 points. (or less for an even shorter game) This is recommended for 2 or 3 players.
Short Game #3 – 1 minute game. All players get 10 tiles and try to score as many points as possible in 1 minute. In this variation, play solo.

Alternate Rules:
Alternate rules – No Wildcard Tiles.
Alternate rules – No Special Tiles
Alternate rules – No tile holders. All tiles must be visible to all players
Alternate rules – 3D. You can play a tile on top of another tile, so long as every side that needs to match can. You don’t need to match tiles with what is directly underneath them, or what is underneath other 3D tiles that have been played. You score points for all paired colors.
Alternate rules – Each player only has 1 tile to play at a time. Play 1, draw one.
Tip: You can have as many or as little of these alternate rules active as you want. You can even pair them with the Alternate Games!
